Hey guys.

I already had the steelseries arctis Nova pro and the Astro A 50 gen 5 (sadly the white once which get so dirty so fast…if you like taking a bite while watching movies for example).

Anyway…I love those headphones as well. The steelseries were my first love in the universe of gaming headsets. I have others too (like PlayStation headsets) but they are not important.

But I always wanted to know how Planar sounds. Even with the a50 sounding like a dream come true and being sooo easy to use and to connect (with lg c5, Xbox, ps5, iPhone etc), I wanted to know what the difference is.

Now I know it.

They are freaking incredible. I don’t even know where to start. From how they sound on an iPhone with Apple Music, to how they sound on a ps5, it’s all incredible. It’s the only headset that I have ever owned where I can hear multiple instruments next to each other as if they are physically standing next to each other. Sure, other headphones are also very good at that but Maxwell is on an other level. The way you hear „micro“ noises, like the touch of metal on other metal for example or how bullets sound when they leave from you or when they arrive from enemies. No other headphone can do that on this level.

I’m at the moment playing last of us. And every 2nd hour or so, I’m changing headsets. Every headset (of the 3) has the best EQ for that specific game. (EQ what I like), and yes, the a50 is louder on paper I would say but by far not that immersive. It’s how this headset creates space next to your ears what makes it stand out for me. The a50 sounds like a extrem good headset and the sound is doing what it should but the Maxwell 2 is more than that. It’s an experience.

The Maxwell 2 is also a headphone which I love wearing 24/7 on my head^^. Where I can’t wait to listen to music or play with it. You have to listen to Sade, Michael Jackson or Fleetwood Mac with them. It’s fantastic.

How in last of us 2 the rain is falling ON your head without having speakers ON your head…man…it’s like magic ok?

I’m not the greatest guy in explaining, why something is good. Actually I’m really bad at describing my feelings for things I love. But it’s THE headphone for me.

Achtung:⚠️
Please if you ever own this product, use it with care. If you put it on without a care, it can damage the damn thing and you hear noises without a source. That damage can even happen during delivery. (You know how these mf deliver packages these days). Check the headphones out right away. If it makes weird sounds, return it. To eliminate the Hisssss noises, use AI help or ask in audiophile communities.

The headphones should sound clean af when you listen to it. If it makes funny sounds, it’s broken or needs EQ. Yes it’s more complicated and fragile than the others but it’s worth it.

The weight is not an issue at all. It’s more comfortable than any other headset that I own. I have a bigger head.

I also recommend you the other 2 headsets. Especially the a50 if you don’t need noise cancelling. They sound soooooo good with Apple Music and gaming. EQ is very easy so use and they are so many on the internet for basically every game. Steelseries is fantastic too. The dac is so cool to use. You can even control it with your headphones.

But planar is planar and it’s really worth the hype, even if it takes a bad to adjust and is a bit fragile.

Can’t wait to play Bloodborne and Dark souls with them 😬

Hopefully my English was ok. Did not want to use AI for it and wanted to practice a bit.

Thanks you for your time!

Return the headset if it sounds damaged. Your ears never lie.

Oh and: There is basically no going back. Once you experienced planar for 1 week, returning to let’s say steelseries, makes you hear all the non detailed stuff and the „problems“ much worse. Just saying. It’s just my opinion with my ears. 👂

Choosing the right dynamic is really important with these great headphones.
