New to PZ. Finally am comfortable with fighting zombies and scavenging. Survived helicopter event. Now wanna get into the settling into a base location. I do play with UI and QoL mods.
What makes a spot good for long term base? Do you build from scratch or convert a POI? Also, decorating.
My goal is to try and survive long term but have a bug out camper if things get bad.
Came downstairs to my MiL getting talked to by a door to door pest control that “happened to be in the area”. We’re kinda outta the way in north NJ. You ain’t just in the area and haven’t seen any pest control being done.
He starts talking up about using eco friendly stuff and my MiL eating it up since she’s super into that. I’m always suspicious of door to door stuff aside from kids fundraising. It was giving MLM vibes. Name drops a neighbor say she uses him as well. As she’s talking to him, I googled them. See the usual one time service turns into recurring charges that are near impossible to cancel.
At this point he asks to come in to look around. He didn’t know I was there and I think he was assuming my 70+ MiL was home alone. So he was surprised to see me there. He continued his spiel when I silently show my phone to her. He gets bothered asking what I’m doing.
I ask him to produce material safety data sheets for his pesticides and point out that they have a lot of alarming signs of being a scam. He tried to brush it off. But eventually I get him out the house with a ‘well look into it’.
Mil is mad saying I was rude but I’m pretty sure it was a scam.
Anyone else hear of EcoShield and are they in fact a scam?
