Looks like FitBit Air might be able to support notification vibrations

Hi all,

I have been looking for a wearable for years that is screenless, but also has the option to vibrate for important notifications (in my case phone calls and select messages).

This doesn't seem to exist with any sort of modern feature.

I did however reach out to Google Support to see if this is indeed a feature the fitbit air could have (since it has a vibration motor) and I got the following response:

"While the Fitbit Air is marketed as a screenless, passive tracker to help you stay "in the moment," it does support haptic feedback. Here is how you can set it up to act as your "emergency line" for your partner:

Vibration Motor: The device includes a vibration motor primarily used for silent alarms, Smart Wake, and health alerts (like Afib notifications).

The "Silent Operator" Strategy: Because the Air lacks a screen, it won't show you who is calling. However, you can toggle Call and Message notifications within the Google Health app (which has replaced the standard Fitbit app as of May 2026).
Filtering for One Person: To ensure you only feel a buzz for your partner and not every random group chat:
Phone-Level Filtering: Use your phone's "Do Not Disturb" or "Focus" mode.

Set your partner as a Favorite/Starred contact and allow their calls and messages to "break through" the filter.

In the Google Health app settings for your Fitbit Air, enable notifications. Since the app only relays what your phone actually alerts you to, the tracker will remain silent for everyone else and only vibrate when your partner reaches out."

That being said, the chat seemed a bit AI-ey, so who knows if this is actually true, but thought people should know, as there are at least dozens of us who are looking for the same thing I am.

Cheers
