Can teenager have a perm?
My (child age) teenager has natural 1B slight waves in her hair but no real curls. Her hair is on or just past the shoulder, all one length and very thick/heavy.
She uses rollers and setting lotion to get an effect like the picture above where she looks “poofy” and messy with big uneven curls and it’s fantastic on her. It’s like she was born to have this big Greek hair look. I don’t have a suitable picture of her with the style but the above image from Google is close.
It’s taking her hours to do and she can’t achieve it every day because it depends on her hair not being freshly washed to get the best results, she says. She’s now asking me for a perm.
She’s been styling it like this for nearly 18 months and she’s not at all fickle so changing her mind is low risk. Also I agree, God did her dirty not giving her huge curls from birth, her face shape flourishes in them. I am more worried about if the chemicals would harm her?
She can have quite sensitive skin and she outbreaks of eczema.
Should I let her get the perm?
