  • Forza Horizon 5
  • Mafia
  • No Man’s Sky
  • Spelunky
  • Euro Truck Simulator 2

Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded my GPU to an AMD RX 7600 (bought from Amazon Warehouse, listed as “like new”, so technically used but in excellent condition).

Right after getting the card, I ran a benchmark for about 25 minutes:

  • no artifacts
  • stable temperatures
  • no crashes

Everything seemed perfectly fine.

However, I started experiencing a strange issue, but only in one specific game: RV There Yet.

The game keeps crashing usually after a couple of minutes, but sometimes I was able to play for 15-20 minutes, so the behavior is very inconsistent.

What’s weird is that I have no issues at all in other games, including:

  • Forza Horizon 5
  • Mafia
  • No Man’s Sky
  • Spelunky
  • Euro Truck Simulator 2

No crashes, no artifacts — everything runs perfectly fine.

What I tested

After noticing these crashes, I ran an OCCT GPU stress test (screenshot attached):

  • no errors detected
  • stable temps (~70–75°C)
  • no instability during the test

The only thing that looks a bit unusual is that GPU power sometimes spikes (for example when opening the browser or a screenshot tool), but I’m not sure if that’s actually relevant.

What I tried

While monitoring the GPU in-game, I noticed the clock boosting up to ~2900 MHz.

So I tried limiting the max frequency to about 95% (~2600–2650 MHz).

After doing that:

  • I was able to play for 25+ minutes without any crashes

So it seems like that fixed the issue.

My questions

  • Does this sound like a GPU issue, or more like a game/driver-related problem?
  • Is it normal for these cards to boost aggressively and sometimes become unstable in specific scenarios?
  • Would you consider this acceptable behavior, or should I return/RMA the card?

Also, today is the last day I can return the GPU, so I’m a bit unsure what to do and would really appreciate some advice.

Any help or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated 🙏
