physiology question

does anyone know what difference in how people with bipolar brains work compared to neurotypicals? Like why do episodes happen and why does a depressive state come after a manic state?

hypomania for months?

I see some people say they have been hypomanic for months but I dont understand how its possible to even somewhat function with 4 hours of sleep and not eating much for months on end. like are there some "break or rest periods" in a hypomanic phase?

Sorry for my lack of inexperience.

for Bipolar 2 do you constantly have to be hypomanic throughout the day or can you feel moments of peace and physical tiredness? Like im still super impulsive , risky behaviors, more talkative and feel like nothing can stop me and irritable at times for no reason. But I also have some hours throughout the day where I need to just chill out if that makes sense.

Thanks

does anybody have experience with an antidepressant that triggered their first manic or hypomanic episode? Also how do you distinguish between side effects from lexapro and hypomania?

Ever since starting 1 week ago, ive had horrible insomnia and getting 4 hours of sleep a night but do not feel too tired. My appetite has also decreased dramatically and eating around half of my maintenance calories daily. Ive been in a great mood and more sociable and less anxious. I feel like im more myself. I also just started thinking about starting a band and purchased 200 dollars worth of equipment so im not sure if thats like impulsive but yea. ive been spending a lot more money.

5 months ago I started wellbutrin and adhd and it didn't do anything for that but it had increased my mood as I was rather depressed for like 4 months but didn't have side effects like this.

any input would be appreciated.
