The Fenix 8 (glass version) is on sale right now and I can get it for €650, which actually makes it cheaper than the Forerunner 970.

Would you guys go for the Fenix 8 at that price, or is the sapphire display on the 970 still worth paying a bit more for?

I mostly go for runs, strength at the gym and bouldering altough for climbing I dont really wear it.

Curious what you’d pick and why

Hey everyone,

I’ve been using a Samsung watch 7 to get into running, and it’s been great for getting started — but I recently ran a half marathon and the battery died before I finished (started in the morning, dead around noon).

So now I’m looking for a more serious sports watch.

I’m currently considering Garmin, Suunto, and Polar, but I don’t have much experience with any of them.

What I’m mainly looking for:

  • Good battery life (important for long runs/races)
  • Reliable GPS for running
  • Something durable (scratch-resistant screen would be great)
  • Also usable for gym workouts

Nice to have:

  • Simple training insights or recovery metrics
  • Music support (optional)

For those of you that might have switched from a samsung watch or recently started as well what do you guys rate is a good fit?

Thanks!

Bonus if you switched from garmin or samsung watch, id love to know if you missed anything important with switching?

Thanks!

Hey guys,

I’ve been using my samsung watch 7 40mm to get into running, and it’s been great so far — but I recently ran a half marathon and the battery died before I finished (started in the morning, dead around noon).

So now I’m looking for a replacement.

I’m considering switching to Garmin, but I don’t know much about their lineup. I mainly need it for:

  • Running (long runs + races)
  • Gym workouts
  • Good battery life (this is the biggest issue for me)
  • A screen that doesn’t scratch easily

Optional but nice:

  • Music support without killing battery
  • Good GPS accuracy

my budget is around 500 to 600 could always go higher for a great deal.

Any recommendations or advice about Garmin models or alternatives?

Thanks!
