First Build!

First Build!

Motherboard - MSI x840e

GPU - RTX 5080

CPU - AMD 7 9850X3D

Memory - 32 GB

Storage - 2 TB

I have fully assembled my first PC! It was an incredibly tedious process to say the least, although I am glad I did it as I feel more confident in my ability to troubleshoot. I believe this build to be very well equipped to handle whatever I throw at it, currently running BG3 at max settings with steady 240 FPS which compared to my previous laptops and PS5, is a huge upgrade.

I installed the Thermalright Phantom Spirit evo 120 air cooler for my CPU but I feel a little discouraged at the temps. From what I saw, 70 C is a normal temp for gaming sessions but I do want to maximize temps if possible for peace of mind. I'd appreciate any suggestions for additional fans and placements for them. (Yes I know my cable management and table clutter is an eyesore lol).

Desktop Setup Driver Issue?

I would REALLY appreciate any help. I have x870e MB and am trying to install Windows 11 on my Msi Mag 272qp. I couldn’t get it to setup Windows but now it shows that it starts up but it will say there’s an issue with the driver so I searches online and saw that I might need to download a current LAN driver. I did so and it still gave me erros about media players or somethin.

I see recommendations about ressting the CMOS but I can’t get the battery out to save my life and I can’t find the pins to do it manually. I am getting quite frustrated with this. I didn’t really mess with the BIOS screen at all except for Expos setting so idk why I’d need to reset the CMOS in the first place.

Wrote this last night so not home rn but would appreciate some help troubleshooting for when I get home :)

Title. I am looking at the G762 from MicroCenter which is $3000 pre tax and honestly am not the most tech savvy. I’ve done minimal research but from what I understand, it has the specs I’d want with the 5080 and the 9850X3D processor but I have issues with the motherboard and the cooling unit. I hear that the Asrock has been faulty but some say its been fixed and that this build in particular is pretty loud. I’d prefer that the build be fan-cooled? and to be genuinely reliable.

This is my first desktop so I am not the most well versed but I generally use laptops. I also don’t really care for RGB or cool layouts for the actual PC, as long as its a normal black case I’m completely okay with that.

Edit: Meant less than or equal to $3000 lol.

Looking at the G757 at MC (not my fav case but has the specs I like for the most part). I am not the most tech savvy person but from what I understand, the 5080 would be 2ndish best GPU out rn but my main concern is how much of an upgrade the entire system would be above my current laptop.

I got a Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i with the RTX4060, Intel core ultra 9 and 32 GB DDR5. I mainly want to game on my new setup and I want minimal fan noise as the laptop gets really loud during most games played. I just want a rig that feels premium and not like i’m constantly on the cusp of overworking it.

I wont be doing any major work on it although I had run CAD programs on my laptop before and it began to run extremely slow on large projects with 100+ parts being used. If I were to be running CAD programs, would this new setup be better in performance? A quick search says that the i9 is better in that setting compared to the 9800X3D which is not appealing.

I preferably want the 64GB of ram as it would feel like a nice cushion for longevity but all the rest of the prebuilts are way more expensive and have parts that aren’t highly reviewed such as the Asrock MBs that apparently go bad. Any recommendations?

I’d be driving around 2 hours to th nearest MC so not rly in a rush but want to have my mind made up if and when I do go.
