Decided to finally upgrade from a 170 HP Golf Mk5 GT Sport to something a bit newer and possibly a bit more sensible.

Im only torn on the engine choice and trim level, can't decide between a 2.0 TDI 110kW FR and a 1.6 TDI 81kW (hatchback or estate).

Drove both, and even the smaller engines seem to drive very nicely, but the FR is a lot punchier obviously.

The 1.6 is about 8300€ while the 2.0 is 10000€. Money isn't an issue if it's worth it.

What are some issues with these engines, how does the consumption compare between the two? I drive 70% town and 30% highway but tend to drive to Germany yearly (3000 kilometers both trips).
