Stock VS Upgraded Radiator Temps?

Hey guys, cracked my stock radiator and dropped in a CSF high performance single row aluminum rad.

I wasn't expecting much as long as it's par with stock or better, but supposedly it's 15% more efficient. I never checked my stock rad temps so I'm curious if there's any improvement at all.

Regular driving, coolant sits at 180°F and briefly hits 185°F on a medium-hard pull. Can hit 190°F with sustained WOT. Highway is 175°F at pretty much any speed.

I will say, whenever the temp spikes a bit, it very quickly returns to 180°F. You might even miss the jump.

What kind of temps are you guys getting stock, and upgraded?

Please help, how could I have rod knock?

Changed radiator on my 2016 STi, about to burp coolant, first start sounds like bad rod knock (had it once, sucks). How could that be possible? Tell me it's not.

Hey guys!

Been feeling down about my Subaru STi lately, EJs are very volatile (it already blew up once). I got a motorcycle and the STi doesn't even feel fast now. Thinking about selling it to get another Miata & another Wagon in addition to the bike.

EZ30R Outbacks are nice, but they really need the STi 6-speed and the JDM Legacy 3.0 spec.B isn't of legal importing age yet. EZ36Rs are very nice but the 4th gens are ugly and later gens all have CVTs.

So I found Volvo, which seem to be super nice, rugged, and simple to work on. Which wagons should I be looking at?

Looking for the following:
- Nice leather interior (bar: Outback limited trim)
- AWD
- Traditional auto or preferably manual
- Engine with 5 or more cylinders, preferably NA
- Without known major mechanical concerns, regular maintenance is totally OK!

I know my perfect wagon is out there, just need to find it :) Thanks guys, let me know your favorites!

Hey guys, been a die-hard subaru fan since I've been into cars.

Got a decent job right out of high school and picked up my 2016 STi Limited - a dream for years.

Was young, so I blew it up within the year at 97k miles. Too proud to let it go then. (RA EJ professionally rebuilt and documented, currently at 7k miles). 310/320 at wheels on mustang.

21 now, I no longer have my Miata, miss it dearly, but I have a Ninja 500 now. Having a motorcycle was completely eye-opening to me- My STi felt heavy, but planted compared to Miata, but now it's just a "pretty nice car".

It's just a pretty nice commuter, not the hero car I once thought of it. I don't drive hard anymore, too scared to blow it up again. Followed IAG break-in, I never lug it, but I haven't been over 10psi in months.

I can daily a bike, definitely a Miata. No need for such a big car. I'd love a GC8 STi Type R V6 coupe, kind of the meeting point of Miata and STi, but they're very rare. Unfortunately, with the option of my Ninja, my STi is now just the Maine winter and heavy rain beater...

I love my STi, my dream car for years, I'm still very proud of it. Too proud to let go when I blew the motor. I just feel like I'm not giving it the life it deserves, and it's not my hero car. More of an old friend. A non-car person would sell it in a heartbeat, but my hear breaks at the thought.

I see my options as:

- Ride out effectively fresh RA EJ until next major failure, sell STi cheaper and buy Miata, but I'm just wasting time and money at that point on a car that I'm just not inspired by.

- Hold on until I find a clean GC8 STi V6 Coupe and sell it to contribute (may never happen, additional liability with old car, I can NEVER sell). Doesn't really solve the problem, only adds more stress.

- Sell now and get another NA Miata, much less liability, more available money, but no AWD/DCCD for winter and rain, must rely on snow/rain tires only.

TL;DR

I miss my Miata, my motorcycle makes me hardly drive my STi anymore, and I feel it would be wise to sell unless by miracle I can swap it for a GC8 STi Type R Coupe.
