Comps - 350k to 390k
Amount owed on mortgage: 48k
Fico 2,5 8 score: 772
Want to borrow: $125 for remodeling

No hassle means:

  1. I don’t want an in house appraisal
  2. I don’t want to pay any closing costs
  3. I don’t want to have to draw out the full amount at once

I haven’t found my lender unicorn yet. Suggestions?

I’ve been deep into my genealogy and was able to track down where my great grandmother was buried. Here’s the issue. I know the cemetery however the cemetery doesn’t know exactly where she is located but they do know she was buried there. This makes me really angry. How does a person buried there get lost? I’m sure this has something to do with record keeping but I feel very strongly that the lack of knowing where she is at and ensuring she has a grave stone does not sit right with me. What says she isn’t buried under someone else or that a tree is buried above her?

I know they can’t go digging / disrupting other peoples spaces so I’m asking what recourse I have him here. She died so young and had this wonderful and unusual life and I want future generations should they be interested - have an opportunity to visit her final resting place. And yes I can document her live as we know it but it’s not the same to me.

Isn’t there equipment that is available today that can tell if there is a body buried in an unmarked grave?

I know I’m grasping at straws, but I feel very strongly about this,

Thanks,

My husband who is an only child, made a trip back to his hometown. He happened to stop by the cemetery where is grandparents were buried - he was extremely close to them and they practically raised him.

The stone / area surrounding it was in complete disarray. It upset my husband. I initially reached out to the cemetery via email a week ago and asked questions about the state of the stone, what are options were to get it cleaned up and I wanted to know if we could replace the headstone, what process would we need to go through. I use their online form - it went through just fine but I never heard back. I hardly have any time during my workday to call and people are apparently who can answer my questions are around during normal work hours.

So, I reached out to a local small family owned business to inquire if they had experience with this cemetery and was quoted a price for what I wanted done. They have great reviews so I felt confident that they could clean things up.

I received a call yesterday from the cemetery about this. I was literally chastised. Seriously. The lady said she walked out to the area and missed see it the first time because it was laying so low and had water on it. I’m thinking well duh. She said even the vase doesn’t open. Again no surprise. She was chastising me because we should have contacted them.

Guys I’m not a cemetery expert. There’s nothing on their website about the dos and dints and I emailed them and got zero response.

She said she was going to have to put a work order in to get the headstone raised (it’s a flat / flushed one). She’ll let us know when this occurs. She called me in the middle of one of my meetings so I didn’t have a chance up absorb everything she said.

I’m just looking for some sanity kind of feedback.

  1. Why does it take us reporting this to them - shouldn’t they be walking this grounds and noticing these kinds of things and addressing them.

  2. Do you think they are going to charge me for lifting up the stone so that it’s accessible?

  3. How do I know something like this isn’t going to happen in the future - we don’t live close by. One day we won’t even exist and I feel like this situation could have continued down this past for decades with no intervention with them until I decided to engage an outside service.

This is a well regarded cemetery location - we’re not talking about a mom and pop shop.

So looking for some level setting on my expectations.
