This grave of "John Henry Jacobs", is a pretty sad one.. The man who was buried with his cellphone.

Burial: Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, Bergen County, New Jersey, USA

Once Henry died his wife made sure that he was buried with a fully charged phone, and she kept paying the monthly bill, so she could call him. Eventually the battery died, and you could still hear his voicemail which he spoke in.

The grave of Cyril Richard “Rick” Rescorla - The Hero who saved 2.7k people during the 911 attack.

#Burial Location: Rescorla Monument Hayle, Cornwall Unitary Authority, Cornwall, England

#The story The vice president of security for Morgan-Stanley/Dean-Witter is credited for saving the lives of 2,700 of the company's employees in the south tower during the Sept 11, 2001 World Trade Center terrorist attack. Rescorla also headed evacuation during the 1993 bombings. A retired U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, the Cornwall native had earlier served in the British military. Following the war in Viet Nam, he attended Oklahoma University on the G.I. bill, and later earned a master's degree and a law degree. He was last seen in a 10th floor stairwell helping others evacuate.

Rick Rescorla, who saved all but 6 of his 2700 employees during the 9/11 attacks by directing people down the stairs using a bullhorn and encouraging them by singing Cornish songs.

Rescorla was the Director of Security for Morgan Stanley in the South Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. A retired U.S. Army officer who had fought in Vietnam, Rescorla was known for his meticulous attention to safety. In the years prior to 9/11, he had repeatedly warned that the towers were vulnerable to attack, particularly by aircraft. His insistence on preparedness led him to run frequent evacuation drills, sometimes frustrating employees but ensuring they knew exactly what to do in an emergency.

When American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower at 8:46 a.m., Port Authority officials advised workers in the South Tower to remain at their desks. Rescorla ignored those instructions. Grabbing his bullhorn, walkie-talkie, and cell phone, he immediately began leading Morgan Stanley's 2,700 employees out of the building. Calm and authoritative, he directed people into the stairwells, urging them to stay composed. To keep spirits steady, he sang traditional Cornish songs from his childhood, including "Men of Harlech." Survivors later recalled that his singing provided a sense of calm in the chaos.

Thanks to his leadership, nearly every Morgan Stanley employee made it out alive. Tragically, Rescorla himself did not survive. After ensuring thousands were safe, he returned to the building to search for stragglers and was last seen heading upward shortly before the tower collapsed at 9:59 a.m.

Rescorla's actions are credited with saving over 2,700 lives. Today, he is remembered as one of the great civilian heroes of 9/11, embodying courage, preparation, and selflessness.

Susan B. Anthony's grave during election, full of i voted stickers. Luckily the graves have plexiglas so its not going to harm the grave stone!

Buried: Mount Hope Cemetery, Rochester, Monroe County, New York, USA

#Reason for the stickers?

  • Every election year, women who vote at the Susan B. Anthony house place their "I Voted Today" sticker on her headstone.

#Story

She is recognized as one of the most famous suffragettes during 19th century in the United States. She traveled, lectured, and canvassed the nation for the vote for over 60 years while also advocating the abolition of slavery, women's rights to their own property and earnings, and the right to organize and belong to women's labor organizations. She dedicated her life to women's suffrage while encountering hostile mobs and armed threats. Objects were hurled at her while her image was hung in effigy or dragged through the streets. Born in South Adams, Massachusetts, her father, a liberal Quaker, was a cotton manufacturer. She was home schooled until being enrolled in a boarding school in Philadelphia. At age 15, she began teaching, a career that would last for 15 years. After the family moved to Rochester, New York, the Anthony family members were active in the anti-slavery movement. Quakers met at their farm every Sunday, sometimes joined by Frederick Douglass and William Lloyd Garrison. Susan B. Anthony abandoned teaching and began participating in the movement for woman suffrage. She, along with fellow suffrage activist Elizabeth Cady Stanton, founded the American Equal Rights Association while publishing a newspaper "The Revolution" with the masthead, "Men their rights, and nothing more, women, their rights, and nothing less," and began outlining their agenda for reform in print. Upon the resignation of Stanton as President of the National Woman Suffrage Association because of old age, Susan Anthony took up the mantle of leadership. She averaged 100 lectures a year and engaged in eight different state campaigns for a Constitutional Amendment enfranchising women, while attending hearings before suffrage committees of practically every Congress until retirement. She suffered from a serious valvular heart problem in the latter years of her life. After attending a banquet in New York in honor of her 86th birthday, she had a serious attack of neuralgia. Returning home to Rochester, pneumonia developed, and then she lapsed into a coma, resulting in her death at the home she shared with her sister on Madison Avenue in Rochester.

Nicole Carol Miller was a 21-year-old college student whose life became a symbol of extraordinary courage during one of America’s darkest chapters. She was a passenger on United Airlines Flight 93 on September 11, 2001.

#Who Was Nicole Carol Miller?

Nicole was a Dean's List student at West Valley College in Saratoga, California. Known for her vibrant personality and athleticism, she was a dedicated worker who balanced her studies with a job at a local fitness center.

On the morning of September 11, she was flying back home to San Jose after a trip to the East Coast. She was a young woman with a promising future a daughter, a sister, and a friend who happened to be on a flight that would change history.

#What made her an hero?

Nicole is honored as a hero because of the collective, defiant stand she and her fellow passengers took against the four terrorists who hijacked their plane.

  • The Counterattack: After learning through phone calls to loved ones that other planes had been flown into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the passengers realized their aircraft was being used as a guided missile.

  • Preventing Further Tragedy: Flight 93 was the only hijacked plane that failed to reach its intended target, widely believed to be the U.S. Capitol or the White House. Nicole, along with the other passengers and crew, voted to fight back.

  • The Ultimate Sacrifice: Their struggle forced the hijackers to crash the plane in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, at 10:03 AM. By choosing to resist, Nicole and her fellow passengers sacrificed their lives to save countless others on the ground in Washington, D.C.

Sidney Leslie Goodwin was a very young English boy who became one of the most well-known child victims of the RMS Titanic sinking.

Here’s the key information:
He was born in 1910 in England and was only 19 months old when he died.
He was traveling with his parents and five older siblings as third-class passengers on the Titanic.
The entire family died in the disaster when the ship sank on April 15, 1912.

What makes his story especially notable:
After the sinking, the body of a small child was recovered but could not be identified, so he became known as “the Unknown Child.”
For nearly a century, no one knew who he was.
In 2008, DNA testing finally confirmed that the child was Sidney Leslie Goodwin.

#Buried at: Northwest Georgia

This is the small headstone of Eden, a baby who lived for 23 days. Each rose carved into the stone represents one day of her life, brief days, yet filled with love.

The stone was designed by her mother, a lasting expression of a love that will never fade. It is natural for people to wonder what happened when someone so young is lost. Eden was born at 24 weeks. Despite arriving so early, he was doing well at first. Later, his small intestine perforated, and the official cause of death was necrotizing enterocolitis.

In her short time on earth, Eden left a profound mark. 23 days were enough to show that the length of a life is not measured in time, but in love, and that even the shortest life can mean forever.

The grave of Julia Buccola Petta, aka "The Eternal Italian Bride"

#Burial: Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery Hillside, Cook County, Illinois, USA

  • Yes you heard that correctly she was buried for 6 years they dug her up (the reason why i will tell you soon), when the casket was opened her body was still the same how it looked on the day of her funeral, but her baby was already fully decomposed. Julia’s mother took a six-year postmortem photograph of Julia in her coffin and had it placed on a new tomb, A statue of Julia in her wedding gown was constructed and two pictures were placed on the tombstone. The first is of her on her wedding day, the image the statue is modeled after, and below it is the photograph of her exhumed body. The statue earned the tomb its nickname of “The Italian Bride.”

The Event After The Burial:

After her burial, the legend goes, her mother was plagued with nightmares in which Julia demanded that her grave be opened, and after a six year struggle for permission to disinter the body, Julia was exhumed and found to be in perfect condition, and the mother was able to raise money to build her the elaborate new monument that stands on her grave today. Primary sources on the circumstances of Julia’s disinterment are lacking, but the evidence that her body was, in fact, in good shape after six years is quite literally set in stone.
