Hi all,

When I booked my surgery to have my left bartholin's gland removed, I read a lot of horror stories and had a lot of questions about recovery, so I thought I'd just do a post talking about my experience.

I've had reoccurring cysts since high school - I'm now 26 and it was becoming more of an issue. I've had them drained in the ER previously and it was always awful. After I had one drained, I went back for a three week checkup to which my OBGYN noticed it had already begun to come back. She recommended the excision surgery.

I was so nervous, I didn't know how much time to take off work, or what recovery looked like.

Today I'm 3 days post-op, I had only my left one removed, so it might be a bit different. After surgery, I put on my clothes and was wheeled out, but I was able to walk back up the stairs when I got home. I've kind of been wobbling about, but the pain is manageable. The area is especially numb and the first day I got a couple of random nerve pains, but it calmed down and I've mostly just been focusing on rest.

I wasnt given any medication for pain, only told to use Advil and Tylenol, and that's been doing fine for me.

As of day 3, I can see myself feeling a lot better by the week mark. It's not as bad as people made it!

I'll plan to update in a couple of weeks with my results, but I'm very hopeful:)
