I’ve come to like my writing style but sometimes I think my songs are a little too…I don’t know, Adult Contemporary sounding.
I guess if that’s my niche I should just go with it but I’d like to occasionally add a little edge to my stuff.
Is it a distorted guitar? An aggressive vocal? Is there some secret sauce in the mix? I guess I should just be content writing songs for old people (of which, I am one) even when I was a kid writing punk songs the came out smoother than I wanted…imagine Minor Threat meets Perry Como.
So, what gives a song its edge?

Here’s the thing, I wrote a song and it would sound better with a female singer. When a woman sings it it sounds empowering, when a man sings it….lets just say it sounds like it rhymes with Grapey. That was not my intention when I wrote the song, it just turned out that way. It’s called ‘not what we’re doing tonight’ and it’s a country-ish 3/4 time kind of thing.
I’ll give you part writing credit if you decide to do something with it.

I’ve been listening to everyone’s stuff and though some of it isn’t the stuff I listen to most of the time the quality of songs are mind boggling.

Why is the public so content with the disposable nonsense that is being spoonfed to them when quality music is everywhere?

Anyway, you folks are so talented. You both inspire me and make me feel like a total hack who has no business writing songs. Keep posting your music everyone… I am enjoying this.
