I’m 32 years old and I’ve been on birth control since I was 16-17 years old. Before being on BC I had moderate periods that would typically last 5-10 days with a 2 solid days of heavy flow. I took the BC pill for many years, alesse 28 brand and had no issues. It lightened my period slightly where it would normally last 5 days with 1 day of heavy flow. I got a Kyleena IUD and had this inserted for ~4 years and got it removed a few months ago. While I had my IUD in, I stopped getting periods after the first year, with some random spotting here and there but barely anything. Reason for removal is to try for kids, but not necessarily urgent. For some reason I assumed my period would come back in full force but since having my IUD removed, my periods are significantly lighter than they were when I was on the BC pill. They last about 3 days with 1 day of light bleeding. Is this normal? I’ve had 3-4 periods so far but seem to be consistently light, although consistently a 28 day cycle. Side note, I did have a LEEP about a year before iud removal which caused the iud removal to be difficult. Would this have an effect on my periods? Or should I be concerned about fertility? For others, how long did it take for your period to come back in full force?
