Which is more realistic MX-5 - iRacing or AC EVO
I am playing AC EVO and iRacing's MX-5 Cup cars as I work on my racing fundamentals. However I notice they behave so differently. Reddit research shows different opinions and I am wondering what your experiences and opinions are. Info below:
- Reddit Posts

- https://www.reddit.com/r/iRacing/comments/1i4az0n/comment/m7txn0s (saying iRacing MX-5 is not realistic based on 1st hand experience)

My Observations
- I am biased towards the AC EVO MX-5 because it has a better feeling and feel of suspension and verticality, the iRacing MX-5 feels flat and 2 dimensional
- That being said iRacing has the best multiplayer and the best drivers by a huge margin
- The AC EVO MX-5 feels livelier and the car does not fly off the limit, you feel your grip and wheel base go away gradually
- When trailbraking in the AC EVO MX-5 you feel the car load up the front with braking and it smoothly transitions into the wheel turn/brake release - this is something noticeably missing in iRacing
- Test on real race track in Cayman GT4 (different car - but still lightweight and mid engine)
- I tried light brake tapping to load up fronts a bit for turns like i did in iRacing but it did not have a good effect - I needed to wait more for the suspension and fronts to load up
***Addendum***
- The engine and transmission tunings seem way different as well
- AC EVO I spend longer in mid gears
- iRacing I am constantly shifting and engine braking
