Hey everyone — I’m a beginner just getting into photography and recently picked up a Canon EOS R50 with the RF-S 18-45mm kit lens.

I’m planning to stick with this setup for a bit to learn the basics, but I’m already thinking ahead to my next lens. I’ll mostly be shooting everyday stuff — my girlfriend, my dog, hiking/travel, and general life moments.

From what I’ve seen, people often recommend something like a 50mm for portraits or a more versatile zoom, but I’d love to hear what you all think based on real experience.

If you were starting out with this setup, what would your next lens be and why?

Appreciate any advice or recommendations for other gear too!

Hey everyone,

I’m looking at a camera bundle for $500 and wanted to get some advice on whether this is a good deal and if it’s a good fit for me as a first-time photographer getting into it as a hobby.

The bundle includes:

Sony A6300 camera

E 3.5–5.6/PZ 16–50 OSS lens

Brown leather half case + strap

Lowepro camera bag

Newmowa dual battery charger with extra batteries

Screen protector (new in box)

I’m planning to use the camera for pretty casual stuff—hiking, travel, my dog, my girlfriend, and everyday life moments. Nothing professional, just trying to get into photography and learn.

Does this seem like a solid starter setup for the price, or should I be looking at something else in this range?

Thanks for all your advice and hoping to pick this bundle up later today based on your feedback!

I’m on Facebook marketplace and currently comparing two options. One is a t5i that comes with

Zoom lens & standard lens

Wide angle and fish eye lens attachments

2 straps

2 filters

Mini HDMI hot shoe screen + battery

2 carrying cases

Hot shoe Flash

Battery and charger

And the other is a T7 that comes with 18-55mm lens battery and charger.

The t5i is $200 and the T7 the seller wants $300

Which should I go with?
