I have a two-zone heating and AC system, and I am self-installing a Honeywell X8S thermostat on the first floor. After installation, the thermostat has no power.
I used the spare blue wire as the C wire, but it appears that it may not be connected. In the basement, I found one blue wire and connected the thermostat wiring there. However, the second-floor thermostat also has a spare blue wire, so I am trying to understand how the wiring is set up.
I would appreciate your help with the following questions:
Should the blue wire in the basement be connected to power?
If so, where should it be connected? The other wires appear to be connected to Honeywell zone valves. Should the blue wire also be connected to the zone valves, or somewhere else?
Where might the other blue wire be? Each zone has a spare blue wire, but I only found one blue wire in the basement.
