Just needed to vent. I really like my therapist --- very kind, considerate, not prejudicial, good listener, etc.

A little put off after today's session though. I said I was getting triggered by many things (rough couple of months) and bc of those triggers, my bad memories come back and make my cry and get stressed.

In response to that, she said, "If you speak it into existence, it will be that way and become a reality."

Like what? Being abused by abusive narcissists 👿👿 for decades, I will get triggers and those triggers WILL evoke bad memories for me.

I'm trying to articulate these thoughts (isn't that what therapy and parts of healing is?), and being told that speaking things into existence makes it a reality that I could have averted by not speaking it into existence.

Make it make sense.

It's like those annoying Brene Brown quotes or Pinterest quotes or wall art --- how does this pithy sentence encapsulate the totality of 1) what I'm feeling 2) healing and moving forward?

Maybe I'm reading too much into it.
