Hey everyone, I need a reality check so I don’t come off as a creep.
I’m a STEM major, but I’ve been going to the Philosophy Club meetings this semester. At the very last meeting, I saw a girl there who I’m really interested in, but we had a guest lecturer so the whole vibe was quiet and nobody really talked.
I found her Instagram through the club’s page, but I’m overthinking reaching out for a few reasons:
Zero Interaction: We didn’t actually get to speak, so I’d be a total stranger in her DMs.
The Major Gap: She’s a Philosophy major and I’m in STEM, so there’s zero chance of us "bumping into each other" in class.
The Age Gap: She’s two years older than me so I don’t want to seem like some cougar hunter. (Didn’t know how to word this)
The Semester is Over: If I don't message her, I probably won't see her again, especially if she doesn't come back to the club next year.
Is it worth sending a request/DM, or should I just take the L and move on? If I should message her, how do I acknowledge that I saw her at the meeting without it sounding like I’ve been tracking her down?
Any advice from people who have been on either side of this would be huge. Thanks.
