I have a 2020 Buick Regal Avenir.
The first thing i did was rip out the Bose system and replace it with:
Fronts: FOCAL ES 165 K2 components
Front Center: FOCAL ES 3.5" mid range
Rear: FOCAL EC 6.5" KE coaxial speakers
Powered by an 8channel HD 800/8 channel amp (75watts rms/channel)
Sub: JL Audio 12" W7 Prowedge (Sealed)
Powered by an HD1000 mono amp
DSP: Audison bit 10 and the entire system is active.
I am currently using 7 of the 8 availaable channels in the amp and am trying to decide if its worthwhile to add another channel. i am currently thinking about a 6.5" JL Audio W3 sub. The intended purpose would be to fill the frequencies between the High Pass of the components (currently set at 100hz) and the Low Pass of the Sub (currently set at 120hz).
My thought would be to set the dSP for the proposed W3 for frequencies between 50hz and 300hz and connect it to the 8th channel of the HD800.
My system already sounds amazing! Best sound quality i've ever had in a system in over 40 years. I realize 75watts low for a 6.5" W3, but it is within spec. The real question is this:
Would this improve the soundstage or add anything to my enjoyment of the system?
