.NET Developer in Karachi getting 165K Salary After 2+ Years Experience. Underpaid or Fair?

I’m a .NET Software Engineer based in Karachi. I graduated in 2024 and joined my first company in June 2024 at a salary of 70K PKR.

Now it has been around 2 years and 2 months with the same company, and my current salary is 165K PKR. I mainly work in .NET backend development.

I wanted honest opinions from people in the industry:

  • Is 165K considered low for my experience level in Karachi?
  • Is it a good time to switch companies in the current market?
  • How much salary jump should I realistically expect if I switch now?
  • I’m also thinking not to switch unless I get an offer from a bigger/well-known company. Does that make sense ?

How I Went From Lean & Athletic to 88kg With Belly Fat

I’m a 5’11 software engineer and around 2 years ago I had a lean, athletic body at around 75kg. Since working long hours at my desk, my weight suddenly increased to around 88kg, and honestly it’s affecting me mentally too.

The weird part is my arms are still lean, but my belly fat keeps increasing and I’ve started noticing fat around my face and hips too. I don’t go to the gym, but I do try to stay active by running around 2km every night after dinner. The problem is I’ve developed shin pain, but I still push myself to run daily.

Seeing myself go from fit to out of shape is frustrating because I know what my body used to look like. I want to get that body again, especially lose the belly fat.

For people who went through something similar:

  • What helped you lose belly fat while working a desk job?
  • Is running enough, or should I focus more on diet training?
  • Any advice for shin pain from running?
  • How do you stay consistent with fitness while working long software engineering hours?

Would really appreciate practical advice from people who’ve been in the same situation.
