idk how else to title this one

synopsis: i was trying to explain something to a friend about the word "degenerate" by breaking down the etymology (which i do with everyone and without thinking) and she stopped me and asked if i was "mansplaining" something to her. when i tried to say no i'm not mansplaining i'm EXPLAINING she just kinda reinforced it and i'm just sitting here thinking "it wouldn't be mansplaining if i wasn't trans" because i would have explained something the exact same way whether or not i was ftm. so why is it only mansplaining because i'm trans? are only women allowed to explain things now?
