Seeking photography/ production roles...desperate for employment and applying to out of state now. How do i get companies to actually consider me when applying?

I want to expand my chances of getting employed and looking seriously into NY as my cousin lives there...i actually would love to live in NY anyways and I'm maybe even gonna consider other states too because i just need a damn job already. Been using my cousin's address, however my linkedin shows i'm in LA...

What tips do you have to help me look like a serious candidate to employers when applying?

RECRUITERS/ PPL IN HIRING ANSWER ONLY--How much does the ATS actually matter? there are WAY too much misinformation from non-recruiters

I always see ATS this ATS that...from people who are not recruiters/ hiring managers at all and don't know what they're even talking about. I have been OBSESSIVELY tailoring my resumes to match at least 80% for each job and i'm exhausted. i feel like i got more call backs when i wasn't doing this.

so please, people who actually have exp on the other side and are reading resumes and interviewing...could you answer:

  • what % ATS is normally the sweet spot?
  • does applying early matter more than having a high score?
  • how do yall use ATS when screening applicants?
  • does stuffing keywords/ directly copy pasting JD duties onto resume look bad?
  • what resume format do you recommend? is ATS really that particular with this?
