DIY grips for any Leatherman “we have Ripps Garage Tech at home”
I posted in a thread but thought I’d make it more visible if this is helpful to anyone else. I really wanted the Ripps Garage Tech but the shipping is literally going to double the price. For less than the cost of a single set without shipping I was able to source these Dragon Skin grips.
Got a pack of three sheets off Amazon. Pretty big for 14$, I could do all sorts of knives or leathermans with it. I measured the silver part I wanted to cover on the arc, it was about 1cm by 14cm iirc. I used a ruler and marked on the back side of the rubber sheet (the backing is white so easy to see your marks). Cut it out with scissors then slowly rounded the corners. For the blade thumb cutouts I opened all the tools, and test fitted the grip with the backing still on and then traced the shape of the cut out so I had a good idea where to cut. Hope this helps someone I was really nervous to attempt this (I’m not very crafty but it turned out okay I think). You can see the one on the left is my first attempt and the right I’m already doing a better job haha. The grip is really nice, not sandpaper but definitely more grippy than bare stainless.
