I love DoS2 better than BG3 and I can't tell Why. Is this Nostalgia?
Baldur's Gate 3 is just the better game in every way, but I was never able to finish it, and still to this day, I have no idea why. My first-ever and only BG3 run took me probably 200 hours to reach the end of Act 3, right before the dragon questline, I believe. Then I lost interest, left it there, and never looked back.
Compared to that, I love DoS2 and often think of another run, but I just can't find the time to play. To be blunt, BG3 feels like a fantasy-world dating sim. In contrast, I genuinely liked every single character in DoS2, and their storylines felt more precious to me. I hated the Red Prince and his f*cking rich-dude attitude, Fane for being a freak, and Sebille for threatening me for no particular reason. But I liked Lohse and how well she is written, even though in real life I would never see a girl like her as an interesting person because.. reasons. But regardless, once I'm done with my current work, I can't wait to go back and meet them once again!
It's safe to say that I don't feel anything like that for any of the origin characters in BG3. Sure, they are all hot and sexy and what not, but beyond their appearances and well-designed character models, I don't see there is not much else going on, and I don't think I will ever feel any urge to go back and finish it.
But tell me: Do you like BG3, and do you like it more than DoS2? Between the two, which one do you prefer to go back to. Do you think this is simply nostalgia speaking or do you think the writing has gone little weak between DoS2 and BG3?
Edit: Thank you all for sharing your thoughts without judging. And apologies if I forced you to compare your two favs for no reason.
