Not a luxury experience

I purchased a 2025 Genesis GV80 expecting a luxury ownership experience. Instead, within just 1.4 years, I experienced two battery-related failures, repeated inconvenience, and a complete loss of trust in the Genesis brand.

During the first incident, the dealership replaced the battery entirely, confirming there was a legitimate issue. Despite that, the vehicle experienced another battery failure afterward, leaving me stranded again.

Genesis and the dealership kept my vehicle for nearly three weeks combined attempting to diagnose the issue. During that time, I was repeatedly reassured that rental costs up to $85/day would be covered due to the extended repair process. After spending over $1,500 on rentals, Genesis later refused to fully reimburse the costs.

What is most concerning is that after replacing the battery and holding the vehicle for weeks, the final response was essentially that the vehicle is “operating normally” because the issue could not be duplicated again.

I also requested a detailed daily explanation of what work was performed on my vehicle during those weeks. Genesis told me to contact the retailer, and when I did, the retailer could not provide clear daily records explaining what was actually done.

To make matters worse, Genesis ultimately suggested mediation services if I was unhappy with their resolution — despite the “resolution” effectively being that nothing was wrong.

Luxury is not just design and marketing. Luxury is trust, transparency, and standing behind your customer when problems happen. Unfortunately, after this experience, I no longer trust either the vehicle or the Genesis support process.
