finally got a job after a year and half! after hundreds of applications i got an offer and im very grateful.

the thing is the shift is rough. it’s 9-6 monday to friday with 1 saturdays a month. (it’s been 2 weeks) i really like my co workers, it’s an office job my boss is super cool and not those asshole types but the shift is really burning me out. not sure if it’s just me but i never heard of a 9-6 shift 5 days a week. i’m hourly with 1 hour unpaid. all my coworkers that have been there for years stay after 6 to still finish their work. all they do is work. it’s just crazy to me and they don’t seem to care to leave.. i don’t have a life outside of work it’s just work shower sleep repeat and i dknow it would be an adjustment after not working this long but i don’t think the shift is a good work life balance in general at all: and it’s really burning me out. i don’t even take my lunch tbh im really at my desk most of the time still technically working and taking calls. i really can’t afford to quit and don’t want to because the job market in this city is horrible. i’d prefer to do 8-4 or 430. or 4x10 shifts like 10 hours monday to thursday with occasional saturdays. idk what to say to my boss or how to bring it up since im new and really don’t want to risk it or make her doubt her decision to hire me. should i not say anything and just deal with the shift or talk to her? i’m super anxious about it and not sure how to go about it. i like the job the people are great but the hours just really suck :( what should i do?

does OW ever provide an extra emergency payment or one time payment on top of your regular payment if you need the extra help? i really need it this month and i wanted to ask my social worker but im not sure if it even exists
