Hi! I (17F) have been wondering a lot about this, and here seemed like a good place to ask. I keep seeing people, especially on social media, reminiscing about the time when they were young, the interests they had, how now their life became boring ecc, and I can't help but think it's a little forced. What I mean is, sometimes I have conversations with my mom where i tell her about some things that I like, and the answer is always the same: "Just wait until you get older". Now, I can say I'm a nerd who likes anime, lego, art, even cartoons, things that are considered childish, but there are a TON of adults who also enjoy them, so i wonder: maybe it's because we consider these things childish in the first place that we lose interest in them once we grow up, or we feel obligated to like more "grownup things" and let go of what we really like. I say this because some of my favourite series have been the same since I was 8, and nonetheless I continued to watch them even if the target audience is children. My parents seem to think that when I'll be an adult (soon) I'll just randomly let go of these things and suddenly become this fully assembled human who does stuff current me hates (they tell me soon I'll want to go to the club, dress differently, get a boyfriend) even when i repeated multiple times that I simply don't see how. I'm sorry this is a long message, and I'm sorry if it seems like the typical teenage rant from someone who's going through a phase, but seriously, does it actually happen? What are your personal experiences? Thank you so much to everyone who will read this message!
