History of the early church book?
I’ve gone down a big rabbit hole of early church history since I’ve left. There are some crazy things that I’ve learned recently and want to deep dive into all of it. Anyone know of any books that goes through the true history of the early church that isn’t saints hahaha. I love history and now I can finally look into the churches.
Fun facts
-First vision wasn’t known to members until 1842 and it wasn’t taught in the beginning of the church. Also the reason why he prayed changed. I understand not remembering age but I can’t buy changing the circumstances of who visited and why he prayed.
- in 1844 Joseph said no to having multiple wives
- polygamy was in church record as bad as early as 1835. Most likely Joseph already had more than one wife. Bro definitely didn’t expect to get caught with Fanny
- even in the 1851 version of the pearl of great price, the angel who visited Joseph was referred to as “Nephi”
-older prophets were teaching you can’t believe both evolution and the plan of salvation.
