Hello everyone, this is my first post here, so I am a little nervous and excited at the same time. I hope you can understand my English and help me with some advice.

I would really like to know which state in the USA could be a good and safe place for an 18-year-old girl who plans to move from another country. For me, safety is one of the most important things because I will probably be alone in a completely new environment, and I want to feel comfortable and protected while starting a new life there.
I have already looked a little at New York and California because they seem very popular and interesting. New York looks exciting because there are many opportunities, different cultures, and a lot of things to do. California also seems attractive because of the weather, beautiful places, and job opportunities. But honestly, I still do not know which state would actually be better for living, especially for someone young and new to the USA. Sometimes I hear that these states can be very expensive, crowded, or stressful, so I am not sure if they are the best option for me.
Another very important thing for me is work. I would like to live in a state where it is possible to find a good job and earn enough money to support myself. I am ready to work hard, learn new things, and improve my life, but I want to choose a place where I can realistically build a stable future.
Education is also important for me. In the future, I would like to study at a university or college in the USA, improve my English, and maybe get a profession that will help me build a successful career. So I would also like to know which states have good universities and opportunities for international students.
So I would really appreciate advice from people who moved to the USA from another country. Which state do you think is the best for immigrants, especially for a young girl starting her independent life? What places would you recommend and why?

UPDATE
I really appreciate your advice. I've changed my mind somewhat because, after reading all your recommendations, I realized it's not as straightforward as I expected. If anything changes, I'll try to let you know. But I also want to add:

  1. I was born in Ukraine, and the situation here is, to put it mildly, far from ideal, so I don't see anything suitable and am considering moving

  2. I’m not very well versed in immigration and visa matters, so my knowledge may be far from perfect

That's why I want to ask you not to reproach or condemn me for, so to speak, frivolity
