I'm looking for a new laptop in Canada. I'd prefer not to buy something used.

My main priorities are that it is durable and reliable, and I'd like it to be as cost effective as possible.

The laptop will essentially only be used for browsing the internet and printing. I'd like it to have at least 2 USB ports. A decent battery life is an asset.

My goal would be to keep it running for a good 8 years, with this light usage.

Thin would be nice. Not a dealbreaker

N/A

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

I do edit instagram videos on my phone. Never occurred to me to do that on my computer.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

I think ya’ll can tell I don’t game.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

As above, two usb ports, likely to last up to 8 years.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
