So I’ve had a Kindle for a while now and honestly, I love it. It’s a great device and it really helps me disconnect a bit from my phone and all the screens that keep you awake at night.

But seriously… how is it that in 2026 you still buy a e-book with just one click, without any confirmation or even a cart?

I know Amazon has a pretty flexible refund policy, and you can usually get your money back if you make a mistake. But still, it already happened to me: I was at the end of a sample and instead of tapping “close,” I accidentally hit the big button with the price to continue reading. I looked into adding a restriction with a passcode, but the problem is it locks down the entire store, not just book purchases. That’s not really a great solution.

I can’t even imagine how many accidental purchases have happened because of this. It feels like such an outdated design choice. It would make a lot of sense for Amazon to add a confirmation step or something similar.

What do you all think?
