Hiring a Video Editor for a Documentary Channel ($400 per 30–40-minute video)
I'm looking for a skilled video editor to take on long-form dramatic documentaries on a recurring basis. This is paid, ongoing work for the right person, not a one-off.
The style I'm after is very specific. Think suspenseful documentaries that pull the viewer in from the first 10 seconds and don't let go. The kind of edit that mixes multiple sources into one story: news clips, real footage, ai animations, etc.
If you've edited in this style before — true crime channels, disaster documentaries, "what really happened" deep-dives — you already know the look. I have a few reference videos I'll send over in DMs so you can see exactly what I mean before committing.
- Pay: $400 USD per finished video
- Length: 30–40 minutes per video
- Turnaround: Flexible, but consistent (we can discuss your typical timeline)
- Workflow: I provide the script, research, voiceover, and source material. You handle the edit, sourcing additional b-roll/news clips as needed, animations, and AI-generated visuals.
Send me a DM with:
- A short intro about yourself
- 1–3 portfolio links showing work in a similar style
- Your typical turnaround time for a 30–40 min piece
- Any questions you have
I'll send reference videos and full project details to anyone whose work looks like a fit. Looking forward to seeing what you've got.
PLEASE NOTE: I am not looking for an editor who is going to use only ai and send back a rushed project. I am okay with ai being used to help make the video, but I am looking to pay for quality editing. I am open to exploring a higher pay range if the quality is up to par.
Thanks!
