Hi everyone, I’m looking for some realistic timelines because I feel really stuck mentally right now.
I’ve had HA for about 2.5 years. For most of that time, I thought I was “eating enough” (~1800–2100 calories), but I was also very active (like 19–20k steps a day), and I think I was still under-fueling overall.
Since around April 12, I’ve made actual changes:
eating 2500+ calories consistently (some days closer to 2700–3000)
reduced steps to about 14–16k/day
gained weight from around 121–123 to 127–130 lbs
I’m 20, so I’m hoping that helps recovery.
I’ve had a few subtle changes:
not feeling as cold anymore
increased lubrication / less dryness
some lower belly heaviness/bloating
occasional unclear discharge (not obvious EWCM yet)
But I still haven’t had a period or very obvious signs like EWCM or strong PMS.

My questions:
Once you actually started eating enough and reduced activity, how long did it take before you saw clear signs (like EWCM or ovulation)?
Did anyone else feel like they were gaining weight first with no obvious symptoms, and then things suddenly picked up?
Is ~3–4 weeks of consistent recovery actually too early to expect anything?
For those who had HA for a long time (1–3+ years), did it still come back relatively quickly once you made real changes?

I think I’m struggling because I’m gaining weight and feel really bloated, but I don’t have that “proof” yet that it’s working, and it’s messing with my head.
Would really appreciate honest timelines and experiences especially if you were active and thought you were eating enough before.

This might sound extremely silly but How do very skinny models, influencers, and actresses get pregnant when many of them seem clearly underfueled and extremely lean? Since hypothalamic amenorrhea is said to be fairly common and can affect around 1 in 25 women, I wonder how so many female celebrities who maintain very low body weights are still able to conceive. For example, people often mention celebrities like Kareena Kapoor and Gigi Hadid, who have always appeared very slim but were still able to have healthy pregnancies. How do their bodies continue to function normally enough for pregnancy despite appearing so thin? Does being naturally thin differ from being underfueled, or is there something else involved?
