My husband’s (32M) family just gets on my nerves. I’m (31F) not that close with my MIL but she’s nice I guess. There’s not much to know about her though. She doesn’t express any of her own interests when we are with her and if she does she says it like a joke. She never states her opinions. Her response to most things “Thats nice” “Thats too bad”. She literally just smiles and nods. She doesn’t really follow current events. She never makes a decision. If we ask her what to do for dinner, she will respond “whatever you want, I’m good with whatever” every single time! Or if we had dinner at their house she just cooks (not the best) and then does the dishes all by herself. She would never tell either of her kids to help and they never offer. It’s so difficult to have an actual conversation with her it’s just “hows this.. hows that”. And she’s overly nice. If I ever do something for her, she will thank me 20 extra times to the point it’s annoying and doesn’t feel genuine. Then on the flip side, her husband is the complete opposite. Super talkative and opinionated. He is constantly messaging in their family group chat. He makes all the decisions. Rarely cooks or cleans. She will literally wait on him to get whatever. He never gives her a compliment. He only makes light hearted jokes at her like “She drives slow”. She just laugh it off. Idk this type of relationship drives me nuts!!!! It’s not like they are the worst people I just hate the dynamic. I wish she would stand up for herself a little like omg!
