I'm noodling on an idea that I wanted to get perspective on, mainly to see if I'm trying to reinvent the wheel already.
Here’s my idea: I want to crowdsource funds, then invest in a bunch of small businesses who are in the business of bringing people together.
The thesis is simple. In an AI-dominated future, how do we protect and maintain the institutions and spaces that bring us in contact with other humans? How can we all find more opportunities to go and touch grass and be more involved in our local communities?
Tons of logistics to actually figure out, but does something like this already exist? Or should I try to start it and see what happens?
My initial thought is that there would be tiers to how the funds are dispersed: emergency rent relief, startup funds, etc.
But we'd look at businesses like coffee shops, movie theaters, bowling alleys, and look for ways to keep them in the community or bring them to a community.
