After we had seen each other (long distance), he had started messaging me much less for a few weeks, and his messages had become a lot more low-effort than before. For example, he would just say “hi” and then not reply for hours, sometimes a full day. I felt stupid for taking the bait and responding each time. The cycle would continue and eventually he'd make plans to visit me again, but has anyone had a similar experience? What was the reason?
