PC Won’t start after installing new CPU Cooler
In pretty desperate need of help. I’ve tried following the steps ChatGPT has given me, various Reddit threads, and everything in between and so far, no luck.
Here’s my relevant specs: Desktop Gaming PC, I5 12600KF, ASUS Prime Z790 LGA 1700 MOBO, 3060 TI.
And recently(like, today), I decided to upgrade my CPU cooler (it would get hot, like 95-100c and throttle) since my cooler was just the basic stock cooler from when I purchased my PC in like 2021 which was before I made all the sorts of upgrades.
Well, I installed the new cooler (Thermalright peerless assassin 120 SE) and well, my CPU wouldn’t boot up fully. It would post, pass bios, but freeze at the ASUS loading screen before making its way into Windows. I re-seated several times. Tried my best to equalize how tight I’d screw them in to keep pressure even. Made sure the bracket was on correctly. Tried various Admin commands in safe mode to clean up corrupted files. Re-seated my ram. And even attempted to re-install windows (it froze during the last phase when it goes to restart, oof).
So basically, where I’m at now is I put on my original COU cooler and am re-installing windows (to hopefully undo any potential damage the last attempt maybe caused). And I’m waiting.
No warning lights anywhere. I did not touch my CPU during this process so I didn’t mess up its seating or anything. Made sure my fan cables were connected properly to the CPU fan slot.
What else am I missing? I’m running out of ideas and honestly I’m getting desperate...
