Canadian Youth Mobility Visa switch to UK Spouse Questions / name change / change of circumstances
Hello! I am Canadian. I have been in the UK since October 2023 on a youth mobility visa. I did my two years and then applied for an extension for one year and was accepted. I got married to a British citizen in February 2024 (with permission from the home office). I plan to apply for the spouse visa in July/August as my youth mobility visa will be expiring in October and I want to give it a few months extra time just in case. I also plan to pay for a faster decision.
My question is more about the "change of circumstance form" or name change. I am still in the process of changing my name. This means, some of my proof of residence ie. gas/ TV licence have my married name and my Canadian passport, UK ID, bank, have my maiden name. I haven't sent in a change of circumstances form at all as I wasn't sure if I needed to before all of my major documents are switched to my married name, or is the change in circumstance that I am married? Do I even need to submit the change of circumstances if I am in the UK and switching to spouse visa? I just don't want to do anything wrong or jeopardize my application.
Is it okay that some of my proof of residence or shared finances documents will still have my married name still when I apply? Or should everything be switched over? and do I need to change my Canadian passport or UK drivers to my married name before I apply? Would I be better not fully changing my name on my official documents at all yet until I am accepted to make things easier?
Help would be much appreciated :)
