I came across something interesting while digging through old Xbox 360 resources.

There is a working method to install YouTube on an Xbox 360 without modding the console and without having downloaded it before the Marketplace shut down.

Almost every thread and guide I found says this is impossible, but there’s actually one page that documents a method that works using the app files and a USB transfer.

Since this kind of information tends to disappear, I made sure to preserve it.

Original source:
https://consolemods.org/wiki/Xbox_360:YouTube

Quick summary:

  • No console modding required (retail works)
  • Requires Xbox Live + internet
  • Uses USB with Content/0000000000000000/ structure
  • App + media update folders (423607D3 / FFFE07DF)

If someone finds this in the future and the original link is dead, try looking it up on the Wayback Machine / Internet Archive. This subreddit doesn’t allow direct archive links, but the page and its files have been preserved there.

Posting this mainly for preservation. If anyone has tested this recently or knows whether Microsoft could disable it server-side, I’d be interested to know.
