MetLife price increase & switching carriers?

Hi, I've read several similar posts and I know so many of us are in the same boat but just hoping to get some insight on my situation! I signed up for MetLife pet insurance in 2024 before I even met the dog I was adopting at a great rate.

Original: ~$80 a month, $250 deductible, 90% reimbursement, $10,000 yearly coverage. preventive care included.

One year later it went up to ~$112 a month with the same details.

My renewal came up and of course, the rates are way up and coverage is different. I did a bunch of research and realized I could switch to Lemonade or PetsBest and lower it to around $95 a month with similar coverage and details.

However, after weighing out the risks of the dreaded pre-existing conditions scenarios, I decided I shouldn't switch. My dog has environmental allergies and a ton of anxiety both of which she has been treated for in the past. We all know Apoquel isn't cheap so I imagine I would be paying for that out of pocket right quick due to it being considered a pre-existing condition. She's a healthy 4 year old dog, but I'm sure there have been many other things she's been seen for that might interfere with coverage in the future if I switched carriers.

I ended up choosing what seemed like the best option for my MetLife renewal. $103 a month, $600 deductible, 80% reimbursement, $5,000 yearly coverage, preventive care included. Compared to my original rates this feels like highway robbery lol, but I don't see many other good options besides just not having pet insurance, which is stressful to think about considering the "what ifs" you know.

Thoughts? Should I just switch? Did I get an ok deal with MetLife considering how expensive pet insurance is getting? Advice welcome! Thx :)
