I (16M) recently got set up by a friend with someone who’s 13M. We actually got along really well right away and had a lot in common, so naturally I started wondering if it could turn into something more. But at the same time, I’ve been thinking a lot about the age difference.
Even though it’s only about three years, I know that at our ages that can be a pretty big gap in terms of maturity, experience, and where we are in life. One of my friends pointed out that I’m getting close to being an adult while he’s still pretty early in his teenage years, and that made me question whether it might be weird or unfair. I don’t want to make things uncomfortable for him or do anything that could be seen as inappropriate. I do like talking to him, but I also want to make sure I’m being respectful and making the right decision. So I’m kind of stuck trying to figure out whether it’s okay to pursue something or if it would be better to just stay friends and not cross that line right now. Any advice would really help.
