To preface this question: I’m a communist vegan and I believe that veganism is necessary to liberate all sentient beings from systems of oppression. I adhere to my leftist values to the fullest extent that I can; this is what guided my decision to become a vegan.

Because I feel it is an issue of morality (I think veganism is a philosophy, not a diet), I want my boyfriend to become vegan too. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to get through to him. He thinks that his participation in the system is a drop in the bucket, and that reducing his intake only causes him to be dissatisfied and makes no material change. But I believe if there is a way for me to either quantify the impact of individual change or articulate why veganism is a moral necessity more coherently, he will be more than willing to make the change!

I know there’s a lot of discourse regarding this question but I’d like to know what you guys think the most persuasive talking points are.

i hate vegan food. im pretty sure i have ARFID so my palate issues extremely restricted, and from what ive tried, most vegan protein options taste like shit. i think most of us would agree that objectively, meat is more flavorful. yet despite this, I can’t imagine ever going back to being a carnist. I would rather eat tofu that tastes like cardboard than knowingly contribute to this industry of pure evil. I even had a pretty serious binge eating problem for 2 years before I went vegan, but my personal ethics override that addiction as well. I don’t understand how anyone is willing to remain a carnist when I would rather starve all day than participate in such an awful system.
