Post op growth removal
Hi everyone!
My cat (Keke) had growth removal surgery on 5/8/26, for possible basal cell sarcoma. The vet I went to told me it would be a good idea to have it removed since it has grown in size in the past year, but they didn’t care to inform me how invasive this procedure is.
I felt like I knew nothing going into the procedure. I thought it would be a simple small removal, but instead I picked up my cat and he has a 5 inch surgical incision and I feel so bad because he seems to be so uncomfortable. He is taking pain meds that they gave me post op for 7 days but I just feel like a bad cat mom.
Did I do the right thing? I just feel so guilty he’s 11 years old but I just can’t give him up and let it possibly get worse and have the cancer spread. That’s why I got the procedure but I just feel so guilty now he seems so uncomfortable.😔
Any tips/tricks for me to help him feel comfy or just any advice at all would be very appreciated.
