For context, I am a woman, and normally I avoid mic chat like the plague. I play shooters ranging from OW and Rivals to Deadlock and BF6, and I do NOT like talking over the mic in ANY of them. I'm used to being hated on, degraded, and called slurs just for talking using my normal voice for callouts. I was hesitant to use my voice in a marathon, but had to because it is way easier than typing mid-fight, and surprisingly, it's been the best mic chat experience I've ever had! Not once has anyone said anything rude because of my gender, and it has been a great experience with my teammates. I'm currently around 30 hours into the game with my season level being 60, and I'm having a great time, especially with Cryo. It's really nice playing a game where I can talk without worrying about stupid shit like that; one of the reasons I love marathon and hope it stays :)

Tbh I think it's because most of the playerbase are adults and know not to be stupid like that. It was mainly surprising because I expected there to be toxicity with the 'shoot on sight' idea but nah.
