I am a new mum of a 1 week old. She was an SGA baby born in the 7th percentile. As she needs strength to do anything, I was told to express my milk as she was not strong enough yet to breastfeed, specially with my flat nipples. Bub has been going through cluster feeds from day 4. The doctor told me not to give her more than 50ml every 2-3 hours due to her small stomach. However, she is up screaming and showing all the hunger cues every 45 mins to 1 hr between 10pm to 6 am every night. I listen to doctors as they are the experts but at the same time how do I ignore her hunger cues just because I already gave her 50ml in 1 hour instead of 3? Am I over feeding or is it ok to listen to her hunger cues during the cluster feed sessions?
