Hi!

I have this monitor since November 2025 but I only noticed this the past few days. The process dwm.exe would consume around 6GB - 7GB of RAM after a day of using my PC (gaming, working, watching YT etc). I couldn't figure out why at first but here's what I found:

  • 165hz 5120×2160: dwm.exe around 400 - 700mb
  • 330hz 2560×1080: dwm.exe around 3.2GB

The odd thing is. Switching back and forth between modes does not free the ~3GB. Killing dwm.exe in the 165hz mode does bring it back to 400MB - 700MB. Killing dwm.exe in the 330hz mode keeps it at 3.2GB.

I do not yet know how it sometimes amasses 6GB - 7GB of memory usage though. I am wondering if other LG 5k2k 45" owners experience the same issue.

Update: It seems to be the 16" monitor being on the CPU... Without it dwm.exe consumes around 60MB of ram (which is maybe a bit too low). I now have everything on the GPU and all seems fine in all modes. Now that I'm typing this it partly makes sense. Why would the 16" monitor, which is 4K though, consume 2.5GB of RAM more when I switch the 5K2K to the 330hz dual mode when it's on the CPU and only ~500MB in the 165hz full resolution mode?

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 9800X3D
GPU: RTX 5090 FE
RAM: 64GB DDR5 @ 6000mhz
Windows: 25H2 build 26200.8246
Geforce driver: 596.36 (April 28, 2026)

16" Intehill portable monitor on the CPU.
27" AW2725DF (but disabled, not disconnected though) on the GPU.
45" LG 5k2k 45 on the GPU.
Valve Index on the GPU (not active though).
