Hey everyone, looking for some honest input from people who’ve dealt with something similar.

I’m 25 and have been dealing with this knee issue for a few years now, and it hasn’t improved at all.

My MRI showed:

- Intrasubstance (partial) ACL tear (still attached)

- Vertical tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus extending into the attachment

- Small joint effusion

My symptoms:

- Knee doesn’t fully straighten smoothly sometimes

- When I try to straighten it, it’ll shake pretty bad before it fully extends

- I have to pop it a lot to get it to feel normal

- Sometimes there’s a sharp pain in one spot, but not constant

- Hurts more when I’m active/working, not much at rest

- I can’t run anymore because of it

I’ve got a VA ortho appointment coming up, but I’m trying to get a realistic idea of what I’m looking at.

For anyone who’s had something similar:

- Did this type of situation usually end up needing surgery?

- Did PT actually help at all?

- If you had surgery, was it a repair or just a trim?

Appreciate any real experiences or advice.
