High elo botlane matchup question
I have a question regarding botlane lvl 1 posturing in apex tier games.
In lanes where one side has a clear advantage at level 1 + a range advantage, why do I see people contest push at level 1.
Exaggerated example: Cait Ashe vs Vayne Yuumi
In this matchup, cait ashe will be much stronger lvl 1 and can effectively just roll vayne yuumi to the point they cannot touch the wave. In this matchup, if vayne and yuumi auto the wave, it will slowpush to cait ashe and they will get zoned from the wave. Therefore, my hypothesis would be vayne yuumi should walk up to make the wave meet in the middle then not auto the wave and merely soak exp, letting the wave slowpush to them as the enemy adc last hits.
Instead even in pro games, I see botlanes try to contest the wave lvl 1. This results in the enemy bot stepping up to push them off the wave and them getting zoned off exp lvl 2. The enemy botlane will now slowpush this wave and make them lose as much exp as possible. This all occurs because they contested the push lvl 1 by autoing the wave.
So what am I missing here? in losing botlane matchups why do botlanes try contest push level 1? Is it rarely the case the matchup is this bad? I feel like this level 1 interaction is so heavily misplayed. In pro games stuff like Cait karma vs anything, why does the enemy botlane hit the wave lvl 1?
This really reminds me of the dopa clip where he says fizz loses the game cuz he autoed a minion level 1. I feel like that concept applies here.
